Family Photoshoot at Sete Cidades – Azores Vacation Memories

During one of the most beautiful days this spring, I had the pleasure of photographing a lovely Dutch family who contacted me directly for a special vacation photoshoot in São Miguel Island (often mistaken as San Miguel Island), in the Azores Islands Archipelago.
We explored the magical surroundings of a serene lagoon and wandered through lush Azorean forest trails, where the light filtered gently through the trees — the perfect setting for natural, heartfelt family portraits. It’s uniqueness is the mild green glow reflected by the trees, that makes the photos so different from the rest of the world.
Their love and connection were a joy to capture, and the vibrant green of the landscape made every photo feel like a fairytale. I loved capturing their smiles, to way to interacted as a united family, was so inspiring and happy to see. I felt so lucky for them. :)
More Than a Photoshoot – A True Azorean Experience
What made this session so special wasn’t just the photos — it was the experience we shared. As we walked between lagoons and forests, we laughed, explored, and connected with the nature around us.
We talked about the fascinating history of the Azores’ colonization, the unique volcanic origin of the islands, and the incredible local flora and fauna that make São Miguel so magical. It felt less like a photoshoot and more like a guided nature walk with a friend — one that just happened to include beautiful memories being captured along the way.
